Es pot relacionar aquest episodi amb les antigues tradicions burlesques de riure's de la gent amb tota mena de bromes, des de la família o el veïnatge fins a la feina, al club, a l'associació o a l'entitat de lleure on cadascú pertany. Avui en dia també a través dels missatges electrònics o de la telefonia mòbil. La broma tradicional, avui relativament en recessió, consistia a "penjar la llufa", -ninot retallat de paper de diari- a l'esquena de la gent que circula pel carrer. Això fa riure molt, sobretot els infants.
També és tradicional que els mitjans de comunicació publiquin una notícia falsa que la gent ha de descobrir. L'endemà l'emissor descobreix la "llufa".
